It decided to be a snow day today. Below is the view from my craft room window.
Brr it's cold outside. Time for some Holiday music and hot cocoa.

Sugar Cookie Joy!

I had lots of fun making cookies with my mom and friend Char.

We all made different cookies for ourselves. Mine as you can see were these cute little snowflakes in all shapes and sizes topped with royal icing (the best). I had decided to do a theme this year instead of tons of different cookies just stick with many variations of the one kind. It certainly made the frosting easier since I only needed three colors. I just love how the icing looks so professional and yet so easy to use. The process was so fun and easy that I want to make some more.

Pumpkin or Pecan

It's simply too hard to decide between my two favorite pies which is better, so I made them both. They were my contribution to Turkey day, but are very much enjoyed every other day too!

Bread Butterflies

Bread butterflies fluttering along in a dream, I was inspired by Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll when I drew my little butterfly. I created this fabric using my own drawing (pencil and ink) and then playing around with Photoshop elements and http://www.spoonflower.com/ I was able to make this fabric. That being the short easy version of the story. The longer version would include the many hours of working and learning the photoshop program and at the same time quite nervous how it would all turn out onto the fabric. Which is why I only ordered a fat quarter.
I am however very excited to try my hand at other designs. I am sure there are other programs and or ways to design fabric and maybe even ones just for the purpose but I have not discovered them yet. If you know of any I would be curious.
I still haven't figured out what I am going to make with this precious little fat quarter. I am just so excited to have it. One can hardly imagine that things like spoonflower wouldn't exist with out the internet and all the programs and computer tech we have today. It's kind of amazing to think you can create frabic right from your home computer and have it delivered to your door. Spoonflower simply rocks!

Pears!

A successful day of canning pears.

Everyone joined in on the action even my grandma sitting on the right.
And the rewards for such a special day, canned pears to enjoy for many months and most importantly, memories and time well spent with family.
I hope everyone has a special weekend.
