Work in progress. New pattern

I'm currently working on my very own pattern to be published on Craftsy, hopefully soon. I haven't wanted to reveal too much until it's complete and I'm 100% happy with my results. Here's a sneak peak at my colors and some of the shapes. I have everything cut out and ready to go I just need a major sewing session to get this done.

Thanks for reading♥

Sentimental Scissors

I was hemming a dress I bought at the store and my Ginger fabric scissors were just not cutting it, literally. I had a hard time cutting this slinky fabric and then I remembered these scissors that were my Grandmothers. They have a serrated teeth edge on the bottom blade that seems to grip the fabric as you cut so no more slipping. They are "Serra - Sharp & Knife Edge" by Marks not sure if you can still find scissors like these but if I were a dressmaker I wouldn't be without them. My grandmother was always sewing us kids clothes one time she even made me a swimsuit I image she must have used these hand scissors to cut the fabric.♥

Fabric Love Friday

These are a few assorted grays I found at Joann's during a half price sale. I'm crazy for dot's, damask, and swirls...

I got this from Joann's and I just love the deep purple background with the grayed flowers.

Creating hexagons

I wanted to make hexagons but didn't want to purchase yet another ruler. I have so many 2.5" strips laying around and wanted to use them in a project. So I decided to test my hexagon theory. With my equilateral triangle ruler I cut a triangle first and then a coordinating hexagon from some extra 2.5" strips that I had.

My ruler has marks in yellow for finished triangles and marks to the side for the width of strip. I have pointed out these marks below. Your ruler should have one of these marks on it.

Since 2.5" strips sewn together equal 4" I put my strip on the 4" finished 4.5" cut line to create coordinating hexagons for my triangles. when sewn together they make the perfect 4.5" unfinished  equilateral triangles.
.

I'm sure with a little configuring that you could do the same with other strip widths. This ruler goes up to 6" finished triangles so you could probably do 3.5" strip widths to make the maximum size triangle.
