Crochet Cowls

So I decided to crochet some cowls for Christmas... Well while I did get about half of them done and to their recipients I am still working on the rest of my belated gifts. It didn't help that I caught the croop or whatever it is that is going around however I do believe had I not gotten ill I still would not have been able to complete all of the cowls in time. They take anywhere from 6 hours to about 8 or 9 hours depending on the size. Eventually I would like to complete one for myself as well. Shown here I got 5 done before Christmas and I have another 5 I want to get done for gifts still to go not including one for myself. Whew....

Mixer Cover Pattern

After brushing the dust off of my beloved kitchen aid mixer and baking a batch of cookies for my hubby a light bulb went off. I need a mixer cover to keep my kitchen aid clean and dust free so it's ready to go when baking inspiration strikes! So I decided to make one, and I created a pattern to go along with it.

I LOVE avocados so naturally I had to make my cover using this delicious fabric from timeless treasures.

The pockets on the side can hold instruction manuals, accessories, or whatever you want to have at the ready with your mixer.

Under my cover (oh my!) I have my splatter guard and my 3 different mixing attachments inside my bowl. My cord is securely wrapped around the base. All of this fits easily under my cover. There's even still room left in the bowl for other accessories. 

This is a great gift idea, perfect for: birthdays, bridal shower or wedding gift, house warming gift. Great thing is you can customize this mixer to coordinate with the recipients kitchen theme or colors.

Pattern weights

Pretty little triangle pattern weights. 

I saw a post on Pinterest to make these pattern weights and I thought I sure could use those particularly with my garment sewing so I whipped them up. It's a pretty quick easy tutorial on Tea Rose Home's site. The only exception I made was I just cut out my own triangles using my equilateral triangle ruler instead of downloading the pdf. 

I used leftover scraps of this dressmaking fabric and decided to just make as many as I could cut out which ended up being nine. I do think these would make great gifts for some ladies I know. Quick and easy too!
